Christianity spreading peace through more guns

This story out of the United States of America (where else could it come from?) made me laugh in a sad sort of way.  A church in Kentucky celebrating firearms and even giving a free handgun away in a raffle.  That is sure a great way to spread peace and non-violence.  Bring your guns to church … just make sure, like always, you leave your brain at the door.

No Child Left Behind: Coming to Australia

The United States of America has the questionable honour of possessing one of the worst educational systems in the developed world.  One of the worst aspects of this system is the policy known as ‘No Child Left Behind’.  At the core of NCLB is the idea that if a school does not perform up to standards then funding to it is reduced.  This, even to the most dense of people, should set off all manner of alarm bells in peoples heads.

The Chaser: Victim of Wowsers

The Chaser’s War On Everything is an Australian Television Comedy series which is often pretty controversial (but also usually incredibly funny).  They’ve pretended to be terrorists testing international conference security, flown things over the Vatican and so on.  But the cast are now in a spot of trouble for a skit from their last show; a skit called The Realistic Wish Foundation (video below the break).

Christians: Upset They Can’t Impose Their Morals On You

The Australia Christian Lobby seem to be a bizarre bunch, investing a great deal of their time and resources into Steven Conroy’s idiotic mandatory internet filtering plan for Australia.  Finally bowing slightly to technical expertise and simple common sense, Conroy’s hardline stance seems to be softening slightly of late to the extent where (shock! horror!) legal material won’t be filtered.

This seems to have upset the Australia Christian Lobby a bit since it stops their plan to impose their morals on everyone else.  What utter gall of them to believe they have such a right, the right to dictate what the rest of the country can or can not see – even if it is perfectly legal.  And certain people wonder why an ever growing number of people are growing completely disillusioned with the superstitious nonsense that is christianity.

Cool Science: Neutron Star Transforming into Pulsar

Astronomy is a very cool area, dealing with sizes which really do challenge the scope of what the human mind can deal with. It deals with the creation and formation of the Universe as we know it … and so far astronomers seem to be doing a pretty good job of figuring it all out.  Another proverbial jigsaw piece has fallen into place and predictions verified; a Neutron Star has been seen in the process of turning into a Pulsar.

What the?

The recent story about the find of the Darwinius masillae certainly has had some showing in the media … and it has affected blog traffic as well, including mine.  Look at the graph supplied and realise that the massive traffic increase is due almost solely to the search string “missing link found”.  The oddly funny part is that search will take them to an entirely different story about another transitional fossil that was dug up…

This humble blog has been operating for some time now, over that time various pieces of evidence for both evolution and to showcase the innate idiocy of creationism/ID proponents.  Sometimes it is inconvenient to trawl through a whole blog, even with the search function, to find a certain entry.  Therefore this entry will be a collection to the various evidence based entries presented as well as other pieces of interest.
